Roland DG Launches VersaOBJECT MO-180 UV Flatbed Printer for Increased Sales Opportunities Among Larger Audience

VersaOBJECT MO-180

Hamamatsu, Japan, March 27, 2025 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters worldwide, announced the addition of the MO-180 UV flatbed printer to its VersaOBJECT series that enables direct printing on a wide variety of materials including paper, fabric, glass and three-dimensional objects with higher productivity.

“The MO series was born with the aim of setting a new standard for UV flatbed printers capable of achieving the beautiful and high-definition print quality that our UV printers are known for with higher productivity. Following the release of the popular MO-240 in January 2024, we have added the MO-180 to the lineup,” said Ryugo Nimura, President of Roland DG’s Global Sales and Marketing Division. The MO-180 is designed to be the most compact of the series to provide VersaOBJECT solutions to enable use in a wide range of situations, from offices and factories to store backrooms and schools where space is limited.”

The MO-180 achieves productivity of 1.90 m2/h in standard mode by combining two newly developed large print heads in a staggered layout with a powerful UV-LED lamp and dot control technology optimized for high-speed output. Productivity for simultaneous white printing has also been improved to approximately double that of previous models*. In addition, the ink can be cured in shorter time so that small characters, fine text, and subtle gradations can be reproduced in high definition to the smallest detail.

Roland DG EUV5 inks include Orange and Red in addition to CMYK plus White and Gloss. By controlling Orange and Red inks as process colors, the color gamut is expanded by approximately 20% compared to CMYK printing, resulting in superior color reproduction and accuracy. Gloss ink produces premium gloss or matte finishes and realistic textures including 3D embossed effects. EUV5 inks can be printed on a wide range of soft to hard materials, including plastic, paper, leather, wood, etc. Glass and metal can also be printed on by using primer ink.

The printing area covers 458 mm (18”) x 305 mm (12”) and you can print on three-dimensional objects up to 204 mm (8”) thick. The MO-180 has the ability to incorporate tall fixtures for printing on items of various shapes. In addition, with the optional rotary axis unit, the machine can print on cylindrical objects such as bottles from a minimum of 10 mm (0.39”) to a maximum diameter of 121 mm (4.76”).

The 7-inch full-color touch panel makes printer operation more intuitive. It allows quick access to print settings, maintenance operations, and other items in an easy-to-use visual format. A new automatic cleaning function keeps the print head in good condition to help achieve consistent print quality. VersaWorks 7, Roland DGs latest professional RIP software, is included to maximize the capabilities of the MO-180. It processes PDF, EPS, PS files with precision and high speed and auto-generates White, Gloss and Primer layers with one button. In addition to Windows OS, the software is available for macOS, making it convenient for more customers to use it. The MO-180 supports cloud-based services, including Roland DG Connect, for more efficient business operations and growth, including better support in the event of errors, operational visibility, easy profit calculations and more. It also features PrintAutoMate for businesses like e-commerce who handle a wide variety of data, media, and products, and require continuous output in large batches.

Nimura added, “The diversification and individualization of consumer needs has led to a growing interest in new services such as customization and personalization, and the need for the VersaOBJECT series, which can produce a variety of high value-added items in small-to-medium lots, has been increasing. We will continue to provide customers around the world with solutions that contribute to peoples creativity and business expansion.”
