Roland DG Launches VersaSTUDIO BF-16 UV Flatbed Printer Built for Productivity, Ease of Use and High ROI

Hamamatsu, Japan, March 27, 2025 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters worldwide, is excited to announce the addition of the BF-16 UV flatbed printer to its VersaSTUDIO lineup of compact, easy-to-use, and affordable desktop products. Using inks that are cured by a UV-LED lamp, the BF-16 is capable of quickly customizing a variety of highly profitable items such as phone cases, art canvases, and cosmetic items with vibrant designs on-demand.

“Despite its compact size, the BF-16 supports a print area up to A3 size and 90 mm in height,” said Ryugo Nimura, President of Roland DG’s Global Sales and Marketing Division. “It uses the same high-definition printheads and UV inks as our wide-format printers to print directly on a wide range of materials, from soft fabrics and leather to hard wood and plastics. In addition to vivid full-color printing with CMYK + White inks, you can add special effects such as gloss finishes and realistic textures including 3D embossing effects with Gloss ink.”

Capable of simultaneous two-layer printing of White and CMYK inks and three-layer printing of White, CMYK, and Gloss, the BF-16 achieves powerful productivity of up to 2.08 m²/h in CMYK standard mode, enabling it to handle approximately 180 phone cases per hour*.

Even though it offers high print quality and productivity, the BF-16 is priced to make it easy for first-time users by adopting a simplified design that focuses on user-friendly functions. In addition, the printer’s affordable ink prices and efficient ink delivery system combine to achieve high image quality with the least amount of ink used, for more profitable operation.

The BF-16 includes VersaWorks 7, Roland DG’s latest RIP software that allows anyone to achieve professional print results with simple operations. It offers a variety of functions to improve the efficiency of customers’ print operation, such as a special color plate generation function that enables the creation of White and Gloss layer data with a single button. The software’s simple interface allows for more error-free, stress-free, and efficient output than ever before.
